The Marésienne Consort
The Maresienne Consort

The Maresienne Consort has been described as a young group that 'breathes new life into the baroque'. Since its foundation in 2002, The Maresiennes have performed at various festivals and prestigious venues in the country, including The Purcell Room, Newbury and Cheltenham Festivals and more recently in the City of London and Norfolk and Norwich Festivals. It has received great acclaim for its performances of early baroque and French music including a five-star review from The Independent, and is noted particularly for its flair and dynamic delivery. At its core are Ibi Aziz of The Rose Consort of Viols and Clare Wilkinson, who sings with various ensembles including I Fagiolini and The Monteverdi Choir. The ensemble has recorded with Clare Wilkinson for Signum Classics a disc of Airs de Cour by Sebastien Le Camus, which awaits release in 2008. Past and present projects include a celebration of Marin Marais' work in a series of concerts around the UK in 2006, and a new programme of German chamber music for flute, violin and continuo that features the works of Telemann, Bach and Handel.
